Capturing The "Ever After": A North Hampton Beach Maternity Session

There is a unique magic in being invited back to tell the next chapter of a family’s story. As a photographer based in Portsmouth, NH, I often think of my role as more than just someone behind a lens; I am a family historian. My goal is to document the organic evolution of love, from the "I do" to the "we’re expecting", and beyond.

Returning to the Seacoast to capture their maternity session at North Hampton Beach felt like catching up with old friends. My journey with Nick and Riley didn't start at a venue, but in the most organic way possible: in their family backyard. I remember arriving for their engagement session at Riley's parents house and being greeted not just by the couple, but by their family. Getting to chat and share stories with their loved ones before we even took their first official photos as a couple set the tone for everything to come. It wasn't just a photoshoot; it was an introduction to their world.

I’ve had the honor of capturing their stunning wedding at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in Rye, NH. Which, of course, was an epic day full of tears, laughter and lots of dancing! 

Watching my clients grow from a newly engaged couple to a married pair, and now to parents-to-be, is why I do what I do. For their maternity session, we headed to North Hampton Beach. They couple chose this location because it's where they walk their dog and have so many memories together. 

March weather is always iffy but we ending up with a beautiful evening. The salt air was cool, the tide was just right, and they brought along their first "baby": their dog Falco. As a Seacoast maternity photographer, I always encourage my clients to bring their pups. Dogs are a massive part of the family and should be included if possible. 

Documenting the Legacy

Many clients come to Dragonfly Photography for their wedding day, but the highest honor is when they return for everything that follows. Being a family historian means I get to see the nerves of the wedding morning transform into the quiet, powerful anticipation of parenthood.
